occurs naturally in over 36,000 plants and vegetables. The 100% natural
inulin is gently extracted with hot water from chicory roots.

Sweetness

monk fruit or luo han guo. It's known for its healing properties and has
been used for centuries as a sweet curative.

Does Gnu Foods make Sweet Fiber?

How much fiber is in Sweet Fiber?

3 packets of Sweet Fiber provide about 3 grams of soluble fiber, the same amount found in a serving of oatmeal or a slice of whole wheat bread.

Is Sweet Fiber safe for diabetics?

Yes. Sweet Fiber does not spike your blood sugar and has an ultra low glycemic load. Even better, the weight management benefits of using Sweet Fiber may assist in staving off pre-diabetes. Of course, you should consult with your healthcare provider.

Is Sweet Fiber safe for celiacs?

Yes. Sweet Fiber is gluten free and is certified by the Celiac Sprue Association.

Should I switch from other artificial sweeteners to Sweet Fiber?

Yes. You've tried pink, you've tried blue and you've tried yellow. Now go green!

Why doesn't Sweet Fiber contain sugar alcohols like erythritol, xylitol or maltitol?

We don't believe in Sugar Alcohols. They are a vestige of the Low-Carb craze and some people report "intestinal distress" when eating foods or using sweeteners containing sugar alcohols.

How do I bake with Sweet Fiber?

In most recipes simply replace some or all of the sugar with Sweet Fiber. Sweet Fiber is great for making muffins, nut and fruit breads and most cookies and cakes.

What is inulin?

Inulin is a vegetable fiber that occurs naturally in over 36,000 plants and vegetables, including artichokes, asparagus, leeks, onions and garlic. Sweet Fiber's inulin is gently extracted from chicory roots using hot water.

Is inulin digested?

Inulin is a soluble fiber that is not digested in the stomach or small intestine. It reaches the large intestine intact where it is selectively fermented by the intestinal flora and acts as a prebiotic.

What is a prebiotic?

A prebiotic is a non-digestible food ingredient that selectively stimulates the growth/activity of specific bacteria in the colon. Tests confirm that inulin helps grow Bifidus bacteria, which has been shown to inhibit the development of harmful bacteria strains.

What is luo han guo?

The sweetness in Sweet Fiber comes from luo han guo. Also known as monk fruit, it's a venerable Chinese fruit (siraitia grovsvenori) from the greater gourd family. It is cultivated in the Guangxi Province of Southern China. Luo han guo has been used in China as a sweet curative for centuries, and in traditional medicine as a remedy for colds, coughs, sore throats and gastrointestinal disorders.

Inside the fruit extract are substances called "mogrosides" that are about 200 times sweeter than sucrose. The fruit extract is processed into a powder that dissolves easily in liquids and is stable and unaffected by cooking. This makes it an ideal natural replacement for artificial sweeteners in beverages, baked goods, special diet foods or any Low-Calorie application.
